Less than a month and seeing results! Apr 30, 2000

Hello everyone,

I am pleased to say that in less than a month I am seeing results. I am 42, was noticing sag from mouth to chin, pouches, puckers around mouth, and general malaise of the face. At the three week mark I noticed that I looked fresher, more awake and that the problem areas were definitely improving. Needless to day I am thrilled, and hope that my story will keep all you motivated. This program really works but you have to be diligent about the training. So please stay with it, this is the only route to a youthful look.

Pam

Hi Pam

Thanks so much for the up-date.  Please give us what results if any you've noticed with your eyes...Seems to be the topic right now. Don't forget to take photos! even if you concentrate (photo) on one particular area.

Jawline  Apr 26, 2000

Hello....    I have been doing the exercises for about 6 months now and am happy with the results in all areas but one, my jawline and upper neck are lagging behind.    I don't seem to get enough resistance when pulling down my lower neck and raising my chin.  What advanced move could you suggest to firm this still-slightly-sagging area? Thanks Deb.

Sonia

Hi Sonia

You said when doing Chest Pull  ...'and raising my chin' you didn't say pulling the corners of your mouth down. That's the action it takes to contract the platysma.

I would suggest going after Lower Lip Curl ADV and then use the same action this way.... place your index fingers the full length of the gum line toward back teeth and contract lip upward. Sometimes the slightest change in position can make all the difference. Let me know how this works for you.

PUFFINESS     Apr 25, 2000

DEB:

JUST TO LET YOU AND OTHERS KNOW AGAIN THAT I HAVE A REALLY BAD PROBLEM WITH PUFFINESS UNDER THE EYES AND THE EXERCISE FOR THE BOTTOM PART OF THE EYES REALLY WORKS.    BELIEVE IT OR NOT, THERE HAVE BEEN TIMES WHEN THE BOTTOM OF MY EYES HAVE BEEN SO PUFFY, THAT I WOULD NOT GO TO WORK UNTIL THEY WENT DOWN.  SO... IF ANYONE DOUBTS DEB'S EXERCISES... JUST E-MAIL ME AT WWW.MEEMAWTX@HOTMAIL.COM AND I WILL VERIFY THIS VERBALLY.

More Resistance    Apr 20, 2000

I've been following your program for approximately 2 months and it's great! To add resistance to the exercises that require a good grip, I use soft tissues under my fingers to prevent them from slipping across the skin. This works especially well for the advanced exercises where the thumb is placed inside the cheek. I can achieve a very powerful pull using this technique.

Hi Pat

Great Tip...Thanks

Weight Loss      Apr 16, 2000

I was skeptical about this from the beginning but I do believe I'm noticing improvement in my neck. There is nothing I want to do to take any backward steps, so I have a question. I would like to try and lose a couple pounds (just around five). Will this put me back a couple steps? Can you lose weight and still see results with the face and neck. I'm definately not skeptical anymore. I know this works if you work it. This is a wonderful site for information and motivation. Thanks so much.

Debbie

Hi Debbie

As long as you remain training and don't loose weight too fast ... no more than 2 lbs a week. GO FOR IT! Let us know how you do.

Inversion  Apr 9, 2000

A few postings ago, someone mentioned while doing her neck lifts, she also did some of her other facial exercises while upside down. A couple of weeks ago, I bought an inversion table for lower back pain.  While hanging from my feet at a 60 degree angle, I've started to do some of my exercises.  I don't know if I am seeing some vast improvements because of it or because I just hit the 6 month mark.

Any which way, I am thrilled with the results.  I have to admit it has taken 6 months to finally begin to see the results.  Oh and by the way, I'm 41 and I just got carded buying beer at the grocery store!!!

Lynne

Hi Lynn

Right now... I'd just settle for the beer LOL;-)      Seriously, the extra blood flow could only be a plus!

Brag!  Apr 8, 2000

Hi All!!

I've been using Flexeffect for nearly five months now. Retin A for four months. I'm 42 years old and last night I GOT CARDED!!! I went out with my 23 year old daughter and her fiance. The woman asked for IDs and I sorta stood back not paying any attention while they showed her their drivers licenses and then
she said to me, "Your ID please?" WOW! I didn't have my driver's license with me! I said, "Honest, I'm 42 and I'm her MOTHER!!", pointing to my daughter. I kept scrounging in my purse looking for proof of age and after we talked a few minutes she let me in. She said she thought I was about 20!

Another incident last week. I work at a university and stopped by the business office to get quarters in exchange for bills. The new woman working there said, "Laundry night tonight?" I said, "Yes, how can you tell? :-)" She said, "That's what everyone wants lots of quarters for." Then she said, "Are there
laundry facilities on campus?" I said, "Hmmm, I don't know? I think so" She said, "Do you go off campus to do your laundry?" I was puzzled! Then I realized she thought I was a student!!!! :-)))

Like someone else on here posted, I also work out my body and am in good shape, so I know that counts for a lot. But I haven't been carded in a longggggg time! Something must have changed? :-)

Sadie

Hi Sadie

After five months of training, you bet somethings changed .. just keep on goin ..  Thanks for the update!

Re: Results? Post #511  Apr 6, 2000

Hello Debbie,

I have had excellent results with my neck, which is now smooth and very firm. It is one of the areas that I am most happy with, second only to my development of beautiful dimples and glowing, luminous skin.  I started out doing 50 head-lifts per day, very slow and controlled.  I also modified one of Deb's exercises from her book-- I cannot recall the exact name of it.  However, you place both hands on the neck, one hand above the other, and pull down. Put your head back, stick out the lower jaw as far as possible and move it up and down in an exaggerated chewing motion. Play around with the exact position of the lower
jaw to create as much tension as you can.

When I first watched Deb's video, I thought that she was an extremist -- Sorry Deb -- and I refused to apply much resistance until I really started to see results after three months.  Do not make the beginner's mistake of being afraid to create as much resistance as you can. This program works if you work it. I bless Deb every time I look in the mirror.  Do not even think of plastic surgery.  You can get rid of that fold in your neck if you work it like you mean business. The power is in your hands - literally.
Good luck.

Eyes  Mar 30, 2000

I have been doing the under eye exercises for approximately 3 weeks and my skin feels like it is thicker and not so puffy.  Is this a possibility?

Susan

Hi Susan

If your under eye area was already in good shape you should notice the firmness right away.  The loss of puffyness is the loss of fluid build-up.  heavy eye bags are sometims fat pads which would still be noticable.  You're one of the lucky ones... started before any big problem.  Keep us posted!

Synken-eye Results    Mar 28, 2000

Hi Everyone.

I am absolutely thrilled with the results I've gotten in only 10 days of doing the upper lid stretch!!!  It's
unbelievable how plumping up the upper lid, even a little, can almost eliminate the sunken-eye look.  Thanks Deb!!

Facial Exercises DO NOT Cause Sag   Re: Post# 463     Mar 19, 2000

Hi Deb and All,

Deb you asked (at the end of post # 463) if any of us have experienced sag from facebuilding and/or facial massage.  I have been doing FlexEffect for about about 8 months now, and I have NEVER experienced any king of "sag"  from    this program.  In fact THE MORE I HANDLE  MY SKIN by doing the exercises and the massage, THE FIRMER AND BETTER MY FACE FEELS AND LOOKS!  I too, had some concern when I first started facial exercise about putting stress on the skin and causing more problems.  But I wanted to see changes and was willing to give it a try.    And,  I am so GLAD I did. Now I can say from personal experience, that the facial exercises and facial massage in this program do not harm the skin in any way, and do NOT cause sag.  So all those who are fearful, throw your fears out the window and move onward.  Really, you will be thankful and happy with the results.  Good luck and happy faces to you all.

Eileen

Hi Eileen

Thanks so much for your input. There are so many that would give facialbuilding a try if it were not for the fear of handling their faces.  When you think about it, it's really amazing how that line of thinking ever got started, especially when you realize there is not one person that can say they know for a fact it causes damage.    Those who really haven't  given it much thought but are against it say I think it might or It may cause damage...after all if you didn't smile you wouldn't have those smile lines'  I guess for the same reason the world was once thought to be flat.... after all you can see the edge and besides if it were round we'd fall off.

But today we have the answers. The knowledge is already there so you're not going to find (nor do we need) scientific research to prove anything. We just need someone that everyone considers to be the last word to DO THE MATH!    But, as usual, it's going to take Joe Public to get it out there (doing it / proving it )   Remember the big scare... 'Doctors now fear enlarged hearts with this new craze in bodybuilding' ....after all the heart is a muscle and besides the minute you stop building all that size is going to turn to fat.   Okay... I'll give it a rest!

Don't give up     Mar 19, 2000

Hi Deb,

I started using your exercises about 1 1/2 years ago.  I found that with a 5 yr old and a 14 yr old and all there was to do that I couldn't easily fit all the exercises into my busy schedule.  Instead of giving up, I worked as I could sometimes missing several days, but always going back.  I sometimes only worked certain areas that were showing the most signs of aging; I always tried to do both neck lift exercises every other day.  In fact, usually when on track I try to work every other day.  I just wanted others to know that even if you can't follow the program to the full extent. . .Don't give up.  I have just recently gotten so many comments about how young I look.    I'm 46 and will be 47 in December and just a couple of days ago I got such wonderful comments from a perfect stranger.  She said she supposed she was
much older than I and she was 42. . . when I told her I would be 47 in December she couldn't believe it.  She said she thought I was probably in my 20's!  I do exercise the rest of my body too and use weights so I know that the whole effect counts.    Then the lady who does electrolysis for stray hairs on my face said "out of the blue" that I looked so young. . . like a baby!  Then wanted to know all about the face exercises.  My 23 yr old son just got married and the grandfather of the bride told me he didn't believe that I could be my sons mother. . . another relative said they thought I was his sister!!  So, no matter how often you exercise. . . keep it up.  Try to get at least every other day or so. . but if you miss awhile DON'T GIVE UP.  When looking in the mirror, I can now FINALLY see results.  I'll keep working.  When you do see results and hear them from others it gives you extra incentive to do more!

Thanks so much DEB.  I'm so glad I came upon your program and appreciate all it does.    Years ago, I used to tell my friends that it just didn't make sense that we could exercise our bodies and look so much better but are told to leave our faces alone!   I used to think to myself. . .we should be able to exercise our faces too!!!

THANK YOU DEB.  Sincerely,

Mary Ann

Hi Mary Ann!

Thanks so much for posting your results. I'm sure it will motivate many who sometimes consider giving up because of the time invested or lack of. With the amount of training you have had, you have much to share (ups/downs/tips). Glad your back on the board ;-)  Check out the new page under construction http://www.flexeffect.com/workshop.htm    any suggestions?

Results  Mar 15, 2000

Deb,

I have been doing the exercises for about five months now and noticed that my face feels and looks much firmer.  However, it still seems to have this sagging appearance.  Will the sagging eventually subside and go away?

Dave

Hi Dave

Glad to hear from you again!   When you get right down to it, any training less than a year is not showing you everything facialbuilding has to offer. The whole idea behind facialbuilding is to eliminate facial sag.  That's not to say it's a 100% guarantee that everybody receives a total lift. But, if you continue to train over the next 7 months you will definitely improve whatever state your face is in right now and that is a 100% guarantee.  Keep us posted!

Hello!     Mar 12, 2000

Hello Everyone,

This is my first post...

I starting flexing three months ago after losing 15 pounds over a three-month period. My face was a mess; hollow checks, wrinkles around the eyes that I never had before, and drooping eyelids. Now I'm happy to say, after three months of flexing, my face looks better than it did BEFORE I lost the weight. By the way, I'm thirty-seven and have recently received the following comments:

"You are so young looking."  "I thought you were around twenty-eight."  "You look like one of the kids." (When I'm practicing Tae Kwon Do)  "What high school do you go to?" (My favorite)

When I smile, my face still shows some wrinkles that I didn't have before I lost the weight. However, I have noticed that after doing the "Wink" exercise, when I smile the wrinkles aren't visible. I figure that if I keep building the muscle, in time the wrinkles will go away. What to you think Deb?

Here's a Web site I'd like all of you to check out. Let me know what you think.

Hi Laura

Sounds like you're doing great! Remember, when you lose weight you can expect a few extra lines until the skin catches up.  Hang in there!  Thanks for the link... very informative and lots of goodies to read.

E-Mail Re: Up-Date   Mar 10, 2000

Hi Deb;

I just wanted to check in to tell you how happy I am with the results I am getting! (started about 4 1/2 months ago).

I remember you saying the two ingredients for success were determination and discipline. Well Deb, you  are right on! I have, however, added one ingredient to the mix, and that is enjoyment!!! Every morning right after my coffee I get comfy in a chair, with my feet up, and a great view of the outdoors and join you on tape.

I no longer look in the mirror to see if there are more signs of aging. I now happily look at the improvements.

I started using Retin A and vitamin E in February & that is working well too!

A side benefit for me is that I seldom ever have neck pain anymore. I am so glad I stuck it out & strengthened those muscles. After a few more months I may try adding the additional weight that I have been reading about on the posts.

The discussion board is sooo beneficial! I get answers to questions before I can write to you!!

Thanks a million! The world will catch up to you some day I trust!

Vera

Hi Vera

After reading this e-mail I realized I should have also added to  'the ingredients'  something you obviously have and what is probably the most important ingredient of all... A WINNING ATTITUDE!

Thanks for the up-date

Re: Post #432 New mom time commitment  Mar 2, 2000

Dear MJ

I have a 3 and a half year old and a 20 month old and this is how I manage to work, be a mom and flex. Do the  eye and cheek exercises in bed in the morning. Scalp flex and forehead stuff in the shower or after , fit in all the others around the house, at my desk at work or at night. You can really accomplish alot with out a mirror and in weird places. The car, the shower etc.

If you are nursing you can do the non manipulative ones then (eye squeeze, chin tuck)and some need only one hand (wink, cheek pull). By the end of your day you actually will have done them all!

I know how harried you must feel as a new mom, but if you are like I was- I had a whole new head of grey hair and I looked about 7 years older than before child birth. SUCH stress to look so haggard after the most momentous event in your life!!! I was shocked by how haggard I looked- especially after #2.

This program is the only one that is effective in my personal experience. Deb gives such great personal attention (she just called me last night to go over my problem areas) and the board is a great testimony to the veracity of the program. I am new to it but have already been pleased with the results. It's not a
fad and there are no gimmicks. It is just exercise!  If I can offer more ideas go ahead and email me!

Good luck,

Megan (34, crazed working mother of 2!)

Bags under eyes    Feb 26, 2000

Dear Deb:

Just thought I'd drop you a note to say thank-you for this great program.    Last August, I was browsing through the Net looking for information about cosmetic surgery only to find it being too expensive, painful and risky.  Thinking facial exercises would be a better option, I fortunately came across your website and soon ordered your program.  What a difference it made.  I'm 40 years old, wrinkles are not a serious problem for me (at least not yet) but facial sagging was more of a concern.  Within two months time I noticed an obvious "lift" to my entire face and so did others. With my busy schedule, I was performing facial exercises for 30 minutes every other day for several months. Then the holidays came and I was unable to do the exercises. It wasn't until lately that I've noticed that sagging appearance to my face again.

So now, I'm back on track with the facial exercises.  My questions are: 1) does the facial massage also help tone facial muscles? 2) I've noticed I'm developing bags under my eyes.  Do you have any advanced exercises to help minimize this problem other than what's already in your program?
Keep up the good work!

Donna

Hey Donna!

Good to hear from you again.  In answer to your first question scroll down to  POST #408 and read the response. As far as I'm concerned facial massage (and what I teach is industrial strength!) is every-bit as important for skin tone as facialbuilding. Let me know if you have the book or just the video? Retin-A also does a great job on crepe-like skin (if you are going to give it a try for the first time, read-up on it. It takes some getting use to)

Also remember muscle has memory... Thank God! (you won't be starting from scratch). You'll be right back where you left off almost overnight.  Glad you're back!  Keep us posted.

Deb ;-)

Talk about quick results!    Feb 24, 2000

Hi flexers
I am only 2 weeks into the "total program" (book and video plus daily facial massage) and I got my first compliment. A fellow haggard mom asked if I had had a collagen injection! My mouth has been the first area to REALLY show improvement. (and I am personally obsessed ONLY with my deep forehead lines and bridge of nose line) Like so many others who post messages here, I had been focussing so hard on what I thought was my worst area I never considered other parts of my face would benefit much less SCREAM "improved!"

What this program has given me in just 2 weeks is a sense of hope, a real confidence in my ability to positively affect my appearance (with hard work and not some miracle cream)and pride in my ability to master these exercises.Thank you Deb for spending the time and energy you have to create such a complete and effective program. I know you caution people to "take the year" to see real results, but I could not help but feel emboldened and empowered by the compliment. To those of you who wonder if this program is something that will "finally " have an impact on your looks, I say JUMP IN! It is inexpensive, IN YOUR CONTROL and healthy!

A Happy Mom Who Grows Younger Daily,
Megan

Hi Megan

I wish more people realized just how easy it is to build the mouth, or at least give it a try before going for the injections. Thanks for the report!

It Works!     Feb 23, 2000 7

Hi Everyone!

I have been doing FlexEffect almost every day since Thanksgiving. I decided to give it three months and report the results to a woman's forum that I belong to. Today I posted the results - IT WORKS!

I'm 42 years old, and although I look younger, my face has sorta looked like it was "sliding down" for the last few years. Gave it a bit of a gaunt look, and there were hollows under my eyes. Also hated the way that line looks from nose to mouth corner. Anyhow, after three months of FlexEffect, there is a major difference! Don't have that "sliding down" look anymore, under-eye hollows are filled in and honestly no need for concealer anymore!! Cheeks are fuller, and that line from nose to mouth looks much, much better! I now look better than I did five years ago. Before I started, I probably looked like a slightly tired 35 year old, now I look like a very healthy 30-year old!

Even more amazing is the fact that I also lost 10 pounds during these three months (flu and stress - divorcing and my mom is sick). Went from 130 pounds to 120 but still my face is fuller!!

So to any doubters out there, here is my testimonial :-)

Sadie

Hi Sadie

Thank you for the up-date.  Hope you and your mom are feeling better. Can you t hink of a better time to look GREAT than just after a divorce!

Recent post regarding puffiness (e-maiL) Feb 15, 2000

Hi Deb:

I did your exercises for four solid months and really started firming up my skin. The problems came when my TMJ started acting up and had to back off for a little while. At the same time, I was noticing a puffiness and couldn't figure out why. Then, I saw your recent posts regarding this puffiness. In the 6 week period that I stopped, the puffiness went away, but my skin tone looked better than ever and I retained the firm skin. Guess what? I'm goin' right back to it because I truly know that it was your exercises and nothing else that caused these changes.

As far as the TMJ, I think my muscles started to get soooo strong that it actually caused me to hurt myself. I guess I didn't realize how strong those muscles can be. I started getting miniature "Charlie Horses" in my cheeks while exercising. Soon afterward, my left jaw started acting up again. I certainly would appreciate any thoughts you have on how to be a little gentler to the jawline and also would appreciate an e-mail about the WINK exercise that I have been reading about.

Quick background....I am much like you with regard to the proper food, vitamins, herbs, etc. I have been rubbing 400 IU capsules of vitamin E into my skin for about 3 years now. I also take 1200 mg of Soloray evening primrose oil daily, which is fantastic for any woman, any age, and for many reasons. Although I haven't done serious weight training like you, I did lift weights steadily for most of my life until about 8 years ago. It's surprising that I retained so much tone. That's what everyone says, anyway. After that, I started doing a little kick-boxing to keep in shape, but there's still nothing like lifting so I recently purchased a Bowflex. This is a very cool machine.

I'm 36 and I want to say thanks for helping me give my skin such wonderful lift and vitality! I promise I will continue until my demise!

Jackie in Chicago

Hi Jackie

All of the exercises that involve the jawline incorporate the 'joint' so easy-does-it. Only apply small amounts of resistance until you feel an increase in strength (comes quickly).  That's one area you'll know when you're overdoing it!  Been there, done that.

Thanks for letting me post your e-mail.

Neck and Chin     Feb 11, 2000

Hi everybody!

This is a wonderful site.  I have been face building with this program for about 1 1/2 months. I have seen that my cheeks are becoming very strong, firm and full. I can feel the difference with my fingers. It is great. I was wondering if anyone of you have had success building up the tiny muscle under the chin and
the muscles of the neck.  That is where I seem to be having the most problem. The skin is loose there. I can't do all of the exercises because I have to be careful with my jaw...a little TMJ. I am doing the chest  pull and the head lift.  Is that enough?  Also, does anyone have any experience with about how long it would take before I might possibly see results in this area, and is this something Retin A could help with? I am also doing the neck massage, too.

Thanks for your help!
Alana

Hi Alana

Sounds to me like you're  doing everything right you just need a little more time.  Give yourself at least 3 months. Yes, Retin-A works wonders with the neck. Keep me posted

Retin-A   Jan 20, 2000

Deb,

First off - THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU !! In the last year my face seemed to have fallen and couldn't get up - no matter what facial "exercise" program I used, until I tried FlexEffect. That tired, sagging look is being replaced with firm, high cheeks and brighter eyes. I've been Flexing for about
3 months now, and am just now really beginning to see the positive effects. I can hardly wait to see what next month will bring !!   to the skin -&- wrinkles under the eyes? It doesn't make the wrinkles any worse? How often should it be used? Thanks a million for this board Deb, I'm sure it helps motivate other's the same as it does me.

Wanda :)

Hi Wanda

I going to see if I can find a really good website describing how and why Retin-A.  I'll have something for you in a few days!

If anyone has already found one please post the address. Thanks

Results etc. Jan 12, 2000

Well, after posting I hadn't seen much change, except in my skin tone, the most amazing thing happened. I saw someone who told me things must be getting better, because I looked so much better
and relaxed (I have been through hell the last six years). But I am NOT really less stressed and certainly am not getting more rest. Yesterday a friend told me she didn't know why, but my skin was looking so much better....thought maybe I had changed my makeup-Something is happening (I hope) and it certainly isn't that I'm getting any younger:) I think Eileen is right. The changes are very subtle. But they
are subtle when you first start to age too. You look at yourself and say "What's wrong here?" Somehow you just don't look good. As the changes become more pronounced, you start to see where the trouble is. I think someone with overall subtle aging is going to notice differences more rapidly. Someone with a pronounced defect (like my eye/cheek depression and cheek crease) is going to keep focusing on it and may miss other changes. One more thing. I am so obsessed with what bothers me most, I wanted to work that area to death. I have actually slacked off a bit on the lower lid, but in the last two weeks, I have started doing some of the other areas just for the heck of it, that's when I discovered some astonishing weakness in parts of my face that still looked fine. And now I've gotten a couple of compliments. Deb preaches that we have to do the whole thing, but I want to conquer the one thing and then branch out. But she's right-there's no other way. Also, one of my (possibly crackpot) theories is that if you take up slack in any part of your face, it makes it tighter everywhere else too. I have a long, long way to go before I can claim astonishing results. But I think what I need to do is back off my eyes and
start developing my whole face, maybe ESPECIALLY those parts I think are still O.K., and see what happens. Keep posting. How many of you find yourself exercising away after reading this board?

Seeing Results    Jan 11, 2000

Hi Deb, Ellen , Val and Everyone,

Ellen  about  SEEING results...For me it has been subtle.  I have always looked younger then my age.  Then 40's hit and I began to notice aging.  It seemed to come about very slowly.... and then all of a sudden I  really noticed  differences that I didn't like at all!  But,   I thought I would just have to live with it.  ( Am definitely  not into surgery!)  Then I found  Deb.'s facial exercises. I think results began immediately!

I could feel muscle building in my face after a few weeks of Deb.'s program.  And the results were  happening, but they were VERY subtle.  I saw some LITTLE differences  in areas that I was concerned about, and in my entire face as well. The changes seemed to be cumulative and happening daily.  Now, after 5 !/2 months I do SEE changes.  My husband saw changes,  even when I didn't,   and encouraged me to  continue.

I think the best way to really check results is by pictures.    The physician where I first got my retin a  was a cosmetic surgeon.   She said that she required pictures from all patients, before and after any procedures, because people would tell her that they didn't see results, even after facial surgery.  She said the pictures showed the results clearly without any doubts.

In terms of how long it takes.....My feeling is that we are all different and the time factor depends on the individual. I still have more facial areas to tone and build.    But when I look in the mirror now, I do feel better about how I look.   Visual results have been very subtle and continuos.  And then all of a sudden, as if it was overnight, I will notice  an improvement I hadn't seen before.    So, know that this program DOES help.......Keep exercising!  And most of all... Keep Smiling!!!!   I have gone on and on...and on!!!

Hope this helps.
Eileen

Hi Eileen

Thanks for a great response.

E-mail Update    Jan 10, 2000

Hi Deb;

I purchased the Personal Trainer in mid October & haven't missed a day of training since. I am soooo pleased with the results!!!! At first I had a lot of pain in the back of my head & neck. I realized that my muscles were very weak. I decided to attempt only very limited training in those areas that worked the neck & jaw. As I could tolerate it I added those exercises back in. As of yesterday I am now doing the full 40 without any pain. Yea!! I am 63 and have always looked younger than my age, but really started noticing facial drape (ugh!) before exercising! It is so empowering to see that we do not have to accept the aging process & can take our face in our own hands!  Speaking of which I would like to start doing the facial massage I hear about on the Discussion Board. My question is: does the video have the facial massage included in it? Let me know please.

Words can not express my gratitude for your program!!!! Make sure to let people know it is never too late with this program!!!!

Thank you, Vera

Hi Vera

Re: Progress Up-Date  Post #310    Jan 8, 2000

Eileen,

Your post comes just in time. I've been at this only since around Thanksgiving. My discouragement comes from the fact that I although I do notice differences-my face feels firmer, etc., I don't actually
LOOK any different. One thing I have noticed is that my skin has a more even tone than I can ever remember. I have auburn air, tans but fair skin, and lots of freckles, reddish blotches, white spots, a fair
amount of acne scarring, etc. Very uneven coloring on my face that none of the lightners, sunscreens, etc. ever helped. That seems some better. But those sad sack eye bags! Those gaunt/drooping cheeks!
sigh..that is why this board is so important. I am convinced I would have quit already without it. It's not that I'm lazy. It's just that it's hard to keep hoping. Here's a question for Deb-I wasn't really concerned about the lower cheek area, but when I started doing cheek press, oh man..it hurts. Those muscles are really weak!! I have noticed an almost immediate improvement in that area..although it wasn't something I was determined to work on, it has a more pleasing look now and I noticed a difference in firmness almost right away. I'm wondering if when you find those areas (which may not look all that bad) that are especially weak, if building them helps support other stuff? And if that weakness is a warning of the next part to go?

Progress Report Jan 7, 2000 6

Hi Deb and  Everybody,

Well guys it is going on 5 1/2 mos. and I just wanted to give you all an update.  As you know Deb, I was really enthusiastic the first month.  Then after 3 months I didn't seem to be seeing much progress.  I could  FEEL something happening......but it wasn't showing dramatically.  As you may recall Deb, I wrote to you and said I was a bit discouraged.  You said to hang in there and keep exercising,   and  you reassured me that I would again see results.  I took your advise and  continued.   And I am glad I did!  I am again seeing results.   My face is firmer and the puffiness under my eyes is much less.   I still have more work ahead of me, but I am  noticing more improvements.  Is it common Deb, to go on for a while  and not notice  much difference........then  all   of a sudden begin to see improvement?  The holidays have set me back a little ( too busy to exercise regularly).  But I am confident that I  will continue to improve.  And,  I can't wait to see what results appear after one year of working out!  Soooo ...  for anyone who is getting discouraged,  please try to keep doing the exercises.  I kept reminding myself (when I would crave overnight results),  that aging took some time........so it may take a bit of time to   correct the damage.   Deb thanks for your support and continued help.

Oh,  I have a question about retin a.  Do you ever use cream with the retin a,  to decrease the dryness that the retin a  can cause?   Does using cream with the retin a make it less effective?  That is all for this post.

Take care all.  And as always , THANK YOU DEB.
Eileen

Hi Eileen

Thanks so much for the up-date.  Yes, at times, I use all sorts of things to decrease the dryness.  Or, I mix a little Vit. E with it at night especially during the winter (dry cold air).  Don't worry about making it less effective ...it's something you'll  more than likely use forever!

Because there are so many changes to look for when it comes to your progress...Another way to see your results as time goes by.... Start really looking at other people your age and younger that are not into facialbuilding!

I think it's working!   Jan 6, 2000

Hi Deb,

Just wanted to let you know that I bought your program a couple of months ago as a result of lots of people telling me how tired I was looking (I didn't feel tired at all !). Anyway, I do the exercises every day without fail and I'm happy to say that I (and others) have noticed a real improvement. I  read this board
regularly and I believe it makes all the difference to my motivation, thanks. Finally I have a question . Forgive my ignorance but what is the difference between Retin A and Retinol ? I bought a cream with Retinol but how can you buy Retin A ?

regards, Tom

Hi Tom

I really don't know anything about Retinol (I've only used Retin-A)  but you do need a prescription for Retin-A so I would say the biggist differnce would be in strength.

Okay... all you cosmetic gurus, what do ya think?

Results  Dec 20,1999

I can't stay away from the mirror today! My cheeks are high, full, and have the most beautiful dimples I have ever seen (maybe because they are mine :))  My eyes have opened up.  My skin is clear and very firm.  My neck is smooth.  Not a wrinkle or line anywhere (well maybe a few under the eyes when I smile, which is often -- I have to show off the dimples). You Deb are a genius!!! I thank God I found you before I did something stupid like plastic surgery.

Thank you, thank you!!

Hi Teresa

You are sooooo welcome. You are my last post before signing off for a two week vacation.  Thanks for such a great send-off!

Update  Dec 17,1999

Hi Deb,

Just wanted to let you know that I have been using your resistance training for about four months now and I am beginning to see quite a difference.  My skin is a lot smoother and firmer and some of the deeper lines are beginning to fade.  I am very pleased with these results.

Also, many thanks to all of the people participating in the discussion board - it helps keep me motivated.

With best regards,

Jeanie

Hi Jeanie

Thanks for the update...the best is yet to come!

Definitely not a placebo effect.    Dec 15, 1999

Hi Deb,

A FlexEffect customer e-mailed me because of my messages posted about my great results.   I thought that maybe you could use some of the information directly from my letter just to get a feel for what people are concerned about.  I hope this info helps you...

..."It's definitely not a placebo effect.  In fact, since I started doing more cheek exercises, I find that when I look in the mirror, I sort of like what I see, but I can't explain it.

Let me explain my story.  I really started doing this facial exercise because I didn't like the way my right eye looked.  It always looked puffy, because is was damaged when I was a child.  When I got close to 40yrs.old it started looking worse and I got scared. What am I going to look like when I 50yrs??

A few months after doing her exercises, I noticed that I was getting a hollow look in the corners of my eyes. I don't know if it was the exercises or because I was getting older.   I always tried to all the exercises on the tape, and did extra eyes, first for the puffy part and then later because of the hollow look that started to show. But the hollow didn't go away. Deb keeps stressing to me to do "ALL"  the exercises on the tape, but I shied away from the cheek ones.  I kept reading that people created more wrinkles from doing too many of them.

Finally, two weeks ago I told her of this delema and she said "you don't know what results YOU will get unitl you try everybody will have different effects".  She also said that the cheek muscles help with the hollow look of the eyes too.  So I started doing them, sometimes 2 times a day.  I can honestly say after 2 weeks, I see a difference in the hollow part (much better) and there is something about the way my face looks, I can't explain exactly, but I like what I see.  Look at young people and then look at their cheek area.  It's fuller and higher than an older person.

Trust me, it is not a placebo effect.  I can even feel the tightness of my face.   She talks about that in her pamphlets.  Feel your skin, pinch it and notice how much less there is to pinch than before.  I could EASILY pinch skin from under my right eye because the skin was so stretched out from always being puffy, then going down, then puffing up again.  I went to a plastic surgeon in July, for a consultation. He showed my where he would have to CUT OFF excess skin on my right eye.  He pointed that spot out to me, now when I look there and try to pull the skin it is a LOT LESS than what he pulled in July.

Don't get me wrong!!! I'm not saying I look twenty years old.  Most people say I look like I'm in my mid-thirties.  They are surprised when I tell them I am forty. When I smile, I still see lines in the outer corners of my eyes and some lines on the tops of my cheeks, my one eye is still slightly puffy and if I don't sleep good, I do look tired the next day. BUT all these things are a little less annoying today, then they where 4 months ago.  According to Deb, it takes one year to see DRAMATIC results, so I still have
more to look forward to. Remember these changes that I have experienced are only over a period of 4 months.

Also, I think about how much worse I would have look 5 years from now if I didn't do anything.

I hoped this has helped you. Deb keeps telling us to take a picture, (I never did) but maybe she knows that a picture is worth a thousand words"

Deb, I have been meaning to tell you that after you told to me go for the cheek exercises, I have seen really nice changes in my face.  It only took 2 weeks, but I see a big difference in my face.  The hollow look is less defined and my cheeks look so big and full.  I have been doing them almost 2 times a day, but this was after 4 months of intense eye exercises, so maybe that is why I don't have the wrinkle problem
that other people did.

Anyway, thought I might be able to help you, help others.

Take Care

E-mail Testimonial    Nov 4, 1999

Hi Deb

I've been doing FlexEffect for 4 months and love the results.  In fact, my husband went away on a business trip for a week and when he came back he stated that I look like I've had some plastic surgery around my eyes. He noticed less wrinkles!!.  The funny thing is I never cared about wrinkles, I've always concentrated on the puffy eyes, especially my right eye. Because it has bothered my for years.  You can share this experience on the web for all those who are afraid to do the exercise in fear that it will cause more wrinkles...

Linda

Hi Linda

You've touched on what seems to be the only fear those new to facialbuilding have.  Thanks for allowing me to share your e-mail.

Under-eye Wrinkling  Oct 28, 1999

Deb,

I've been doing my exercises a little differently over the past week and I can see a MAJOR improvement. In the morning I would do my exercises like always. As I would sit and watch TV with my daughter in the evening I would do more lower lid lifts. I hold to a count of 10 and do them thru 2 half hour shows. After doing the lower lid lifts for an hour each evening the wrinkling is really improved !  I'm not suggesting anyone else to do this, I was just so fed up with the wrinkles and decided to go after them like I have everything else I ever wanted. My husband never noticed when the wrinkles were so bad, so I figured what do I have to lose? I guess just the wrinkles !! I feel so much better now.  I just read a post from Sandra about the sides of the face drooping and now I'm wondering if doing the upper -&- lower lid lifts will tighten the skin BESIDE the eyes? Will any exercise actually do that?

I LOVE THIS BOARD !!!
Sara

Sara

All of the eye exercises will help tighten the skin around the eyes, but Crow's Eye targets more of the skin in that area.

Progress noticed by others   Oct 23, 1999

Hello Deb and Everyone:

This is my second post.  I had one back on Oct. 12.  Guess what?  People are noticing the results now.  I'm into this 6 weeks now.  First, several people my husband works with came up to me and said, "You look great, what have you been doing?" Another came up and asked me if I had cut my hair or something.  Then, I went to have a complete facial and the technician told me that my muscle tone was that of a woman in her mid-late twenties and I'm 36!  The last facial put me at around 30 so this is progress! I also had a complete stranger come up to me at the post office and tell me that I had an "energy" and "sparkly" look and wants to use me in one of her upcoming Mary Kay shows as a model!  Finally, my 60 year old mother asked if I was taking a different type of vitamin or herb or if I changed
face cream. She will be starting this program soon and so will my 32 year old sister.

I am into alternative medicine and have used products similar to Deb's regimen for about 2 years now.  However, I haven't tried the selenium yet.  I use a product called Dermal-C, morning and night, plus Alpha Hydrox and a good moisturizer.  Every other evening, I break open a 400 I.U. Vitamin E Capsule and apply to my face, neck and hands before going to bed.  I also take 1200 milligrams of evening primrose oil daily (Soloray brand only from England), which is a MUST if you are a woman and highly
beneficial if you are a man.  This lowers cholesterol DRASTICALLY, clears up adult acne, plus helps with PMS and fibrocystic breast disease (common name for sore breasts once a month due to hormonal changes--80% of women experience this).  I also take good vitamins and drink LOTS of fresh water.

Sorry for the long post but I HAD to share!  Thanks Deb...you are the absolute best!   My heartfelt thanks goes out to all the others as well for sharing their expertise and experiences!

Sunken-eyes    Oct 22,1999

Hi Everybody....

You know that sunken-eye look that many people get starting in their 40s?  Well, I had that but was sure that was part of aging that nothing could ever be done about that.  Well, I was WRONG.  I wasn't even looking for that result when I started this exercise program a couple months ago, but just this morning I noticed how good my eyes looked.  My upper lids have plumped up enough to counter-act that sunken look.  Hooray!!!

Famous People    Oct 21, 1999

Hi Deb....

Just wondering if anyone "famous" has consulted with you about this stuff?  "Stars" have all the money in the world to spend on facelifts, but this is far superior I think, whether you can easily afford a facelift or not.  Instead of just waiting around, helplessly watching yourself age, you can be an active participant in how you age.   Instead of just aging to the point you can't stand it anymore and you "break down" and get a facelift, you can change your face gradually....before anyone even notices those little signs you see first.  And let's face it, facelifts on angular faces don't always look that good....it's the plumping up that looks youthful.

I've been at it 3 weeks, and I have to say I am thrilled.  Turned down corners of mouth are completely gone, hollows of cheeks filling out nicely.  I too have had concerns about crinkling under the eyes when smiling....and although I can't see a decrease in the crinkling yet, I can definitely see a build up of tissue under the eye....so I know it's just a matter of time.

And I have to agree with everyone else, this board is great and so much fun.  (But what if it gets so busy you can't keep up with it??.....the price of being so successful!!!)

Joy

Hi Joy

No way will we let the board go.   We'll just have to work something out. As of right now, there are enough of you that have such a handle on facialbuilding; a new comer already has more help than he could ever hope for!

Changes!  Sep 29,1999

Okay Deb!

First of all let me say, I'm so glad I started these exercises when I was 34. Prevention is worth more than a couple pounds of cure.  My top furrows by my mouth are completely gone and the faint lines are just about history.  In fact the lines that circled to the sides of my mouth are gone! I'm still not "there"
yet but I think in the next month or two the lines just higher up will be completely gone. Patience and hard work are virtues and you need both to get rid of a line that has "set" in. DO the neck exercises.  I've found that when the neck muscles are worked it pulls the jaw line tighter and really tightens up
everything on the face. When my face is relaxed, I have NO LINES around my eyes now. Still dealing with some crepeness under my eyes when I smile but this has improved over the last month. I do cheek raiser only three times a week because this area is now actually a little overbuilt.  Except for my top furrow and the area under my eyes, I'm looking more at maintenance now than anything. Where I used to do each exercise 10 times to the count of 10 with extra reps to trouble areas, I now do the exercises
10 times to the count of 6 with some areas being worked only every other day, exp. cheek raiser. I've had to lay off my brow smoother, too, because I was just starting to get a neanderthal ridge! LOL. The great thing about these exercises is that NO ONE believes I'm thirty-five! Went out last weekend and got carded twice! Hoping this lasts forever! LOL. jaskins@advant.com

Jason

Hi Jason

Good To Go!  I'm so glad you mentioned how important it is to train the neck. I couldn't help but crack-up when you said 'neanderthal ridge' ... A far more accurate description  than my 'Darth Vader Look'  I can't tell you how on top of it you really are (starting at a perfect age).  I only wish more people realized just how much easier it is to STOP THE PROCESS than it is to repair it.   Okay...I wanna know when those two lines go!

Thank you so much for such a wonder testimonial.

UNEXPECTED RESULTS AND QUESTION           Aug 30, 1999

HEY DEB,

THIS WEDNESDAY WILL BE 8 WEEKS (2 MONTHS) SINCE I STARTED TO EXERCISE.  AS I TOLD YOU THE LAST TIME I POSTED A MESSAGE I'M VERY HAPPY WITH MY RESULTS ESPECIALLY MY EYES.   EVEN IF I PUSH IT (SALT, SLEEP, ALCOHOL) THEY MAY BE SLIGHTLY PUFFY, BUT NOT NEARLY AS BAD AS BEFORE AND I DON'T LOOK TIRED ANYMORE!  THANK YOU, THANK YOU, SOOOOOOOOO MUCH FOR SHARING THIS INFO WITH THE PUBLIC.

BESIDES NOT BEING PUFFY, I HAVE REGAINED THAT HIGHER, CAT LIKE, LOOK OF MY EYES. I WAS NOT EXPECTING THIS!!!  I'VE ALWAYS BEEN TOLD THAT I HAVE CAT EYES AND THE LAST FEW YEARS THEY STARTED TO LOOK MORE PLAIN AND ROUNDED, ALMOST DROOPY.  YOU KNOW DEB, I ALWAYS LOVE TO COMPARE PICTURES OF PEOPLE WHEN THEIR YOUNG NEXT TO A PICTURE OF WHEN THEY ARE OLDER, 25 VS 55 TO SEE WHAT MAKES AN OLDER PERSON LOOK OLDER. THE ONE THING I NOTICED IS WHEN WE ARE YOUNG WE LOOK SERENE AND PEACEFUL. NO FOREHEAD AND EYEBROW  SCOWLS, OUR EYES SEEM TO BE TIGHTER AND SIT HIGHER ON OUR FACES.  I REALLY FEEL THAT IN 8 WEEKS I HAVE MADE MYSELF LOOK A FEW YEARS YOUNGER. ALSO, I CAN FEEL THE DIFFERENCE IN MY SKIN.   THE SKIN ON MY CHEEKS AND AROUND MY EYES FEEL TIGHTER AND BOUNCY.

I'M NOW WORKING ON FIXING THE UPPER FURROW.  I HAVE BEEN DOING THE EXERCISE THAT YOU TOLD ME FOR THE MOUTH, HOOKING THE RIGHT AND LEFT THUMB ON OPPOSITE SIDES OF MY MOUTH PULLING OUTWARD AND THEN CONTRACTING THE LIPS.  CAN THIS REPLACE THE TIGHT UPPER LIP
AND BOTTOM LIP EXERCISES?  WILL THE MOUTH EXERCISE MAKE MY LIPS LARGER AND FULLER TOO?  IF NOT I WILL CONTINUE TO DO THE TIGHT UPPER LIP AND THE BOTTOM LIP EXERCISE.

ALSO, WHEN DOING THE LOWER LID PULL, IF I LOOK UPWARD WHILE TRYING TO CLOSE THE EYE, WILL THAT MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN BUILDING UP THE EYE AREA EVEN FASTER? IS THIS RECOMMENDED?

THANKS SO MUCH!!! I AM THRILLED WITH WHAT I HAVE EXPERIENCED SO FAR AND I LOOK FORWARD TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS IN ANOTHER 2 MONTHS.  THANKS FOR GIVING ME CONTROL OVER THE AGING OF MY FACE.

SINCERELY,                                                                                                                               LINDA

Hi Linda

The exercise you described, MOUTH FLEX ADV. Builds the Orbicularis Oris (the entire mouth). TIGHT UPPER LIP, TIGHT LOWER LIP   builds the same muscle but is obviously concentrating more  on the lips.   In MOUTH FLEX ADV. you apply resistance only (not working the tissue). In the other two exercises the extra bonus comes from working the Tissue at the same time. This is very much needed if someone has a lot of lines in this area.   I just thought of something... If you do not have the book let me know (e-mail) and I'll send you TIGHT UPPER LIP from the book.. that will explain everything.

No problem with looking upward during LOWER LID LIFT.  If you feel you can get more into the resistance by doing this... go for it. It doesn't actually effect the muscle  but it's a proven fact that physicing yourself does effect the amount of contraction   When I do CHEEK RAISER I put my head back with each contraction, works for me!  Sounds like you're doing great!  Keep us posted :-)

Upper Cheek     Aug 30, 1999

Deb,
First I want to thank you for the email. I am very impressed with how you give everyone equal attention, even those of us who have been using different programs. I have tried Facial Magic and Carol Maggio's programs and since reading the messages here, have started doing your exercises. ( Only )  Wow!!  I have only been doing them for about a week, but I swear I can tell a difference!  I am so excited and can hardly wait to get your book. Would it be too much for me to ask what the cheek raiser is? I suspect that is the exercise I need for the top of my cheeks. How can I possibly thank you enough for such a great program? ( I can't wait to compare my after photos ).

Thanks    Aug 28,1999

Hi Deb,

As always thank you so much  for your quick, thorough, and  much needed help.  You are incredible!  You always answer my questions in a way that gives me not only the information I asked for, but much more For anyone just surfing into this site......FlexEffect is a program that works.  I still have lots of areas that I want to work on.....but so far I am seeing results!   For the guys out there.....go for it!  My husband actually says he wants to try the exercises too, because he is so impressed with the difference they have made for me. Deb, the photo additions to the site are great!  I get really inspired when I see changes that can happen with time and determination.  I better stop now, before I  start sounding like a promo!

Thanks, again.                                                                                                                           Eileen

Made it 6 months and still going!            Aug 28,1999

I've been doing your program now religiously for 6 months. And it does work! Don't let anyone tell you it doesn't. When I first started I had deep furrows/laugh lines around my mouth. Except for a faint line, the furrows are gone. My skin is noticeably tighter and I have regained my cheeks (after having lost 40 lbs.) Another change I've noticed is that the muscles on the top/side/back of my head have now become voluntary and I can actually flap my ears (don't try this at board meetings!) The benefit to this is that I can actually contract these muscles at will and exercise them during the day without notice. (Like kegel exercises......squeeze and hold! LOL) Really takes out the lines on the forehead. Anyway, just thought I would put this out there for any who are getting disheartened.  It is true....you will NOT see changes overnight.....but if you stick with it, you definitely will.

Jason

Here is my testimonial     Aug 19, 1999

Hi Deb,

I hope that it will encourage others that are doing or considering doing facial resistance exercises. I am an R.N. and became interested in  Alternative and Preventive Health Care several yrs. ago. Like you in  '78, our yr., I was experimenting with facial exercises and gradually designed my own method resistance exercises for the face and neck which I have been teaching for 21 yrs. Everyone thought my face would fall off !  But, I am 61 most people think that I am 42 and just the other day someone thought I was 38. I'm gong to have to treat her to lunch !!

Seriously, resistance exercises for the face just makes common sense. Muscle tissue is muscle tissue. Like you I feel blessed to be able to share this information with others.

I wish you much success Deb.

Hi Lynn

Thanks so much and I'll be putting this in my testimonials.  Please stay with us and give all the advice you can. With your experience you would be a terrific help!

Upper Furrow and Success Story       Aug 19, 1999

HI DEB,

THIS IS LINDA, I HAD AN ATROPHIED RIGHT EYE THAT WAS ALWAYS PUFFY.  I CAN FINALLY SEE A DIFFERENCE IN MY RIGHT EYE!! IT'S BEEN 6 WEEKS SINCE I STARTED.  IT SEEMS LIKE THERE WASN'T ANY CHANGE AND THEN BOOM, ONE DAY I LOOKED IN THE MIRROR AND MY EYE SEEMS TO LOOK TIGHTER.  I WENT ON VACATION FOR 10 DAYS AND WHEN I CAME BACK TO WORK SEVERAL PEOPLE COMMENTED ON HOW REFRESHED I LOOKED.  I KNOW IT WAS BECAUSE MY EYES LOOK BETTER.

THE REASON I AM WRITING IS TO GET ADVICE ON WHAT TO DO ABOUT THE UPPER FURROW.   DURING MY VACATION A LOT OF PICTURES WERE TAKEN.  WHEN I SAW THE PICTURES OF MYSELF, THE FIRST THING I NOTICE WAS THAT IT LOOKED LIKE MY CHEEKS WERE FOLDING OR FALLING DOWN NEAR
MY NOSE AREA.  WHEN I PLACE MY FINGER BY MY TEMPLE AND PULL UP, IT GOES AWAY.  I WAS HORRIFIED TO SEE HOW BAD IT LOOKED IN THE PICTURE.

I DO THE UPPER FURROW AND THE WIDE LAUGH AND THE CHEEK RAISERS, ACTUALLY I DO ALL OF YOUR EXERCISES ON THE VIDEO, BUT ONLY THE NUMBER OF TIMES RECOMMENDED (NOT EXTRA REPS LIKE I DID FOR MY EYES!) SHOULD I DO MORE OF THESE THREE EXERCISES? OR IS ONE EXERCISE MORE SPECIFIC THAN THE OTHER? OR DO YOU HAVE AN ADVANCED EXERCISE FOR THIS AREA?

THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP

SINCERELY, LINDA

Hi Linda!

Don't ya just love it when all of a sudden you look in the mirror and ...  whoa!

Yes you can do extra reps. Do you have the video only or do you also have the book?  Just incase you don't have the book start doing this one... sometimes the furrows have less to do with the cheeks not sitting high enough and more to do with the upper lip area needing extra build.

EXERCISE:...

Let me know how this works for ya.

Thought you'd like to know      July 29, 1999

Hi Deb

I want to let you know something. Yesterday, I went to get microdermabrasion at a local's doctor's office where I have been purchasing some facial products for over a year. The nurse, who does the procedure, was telling me that my upper lip sure looked good - i.e., no wrinkles, etc.. I told her I was doing your exercises and had her feel the muscles on the sides of my face, etc.. She wanted me to show her the "tight upper lip" exercise, which I did. She was absolutely fascinated and called in the doctor, who is a head and neck surgeon. He too was fascinated and had me show him a couple of the exercises. The one that he was really impressed with was the "frowner" -  I think that's the one. Anyway, when the nurse    was getting ready to do the procedure she was looking at my face first. I still have a line, not  exactly between my brows, but more on the side of that area, right next to my left eyebrow. What they were so impressed with was the fact that when I frown the line is very deep, but yet when I don't frown, the line is hardly noticeable and they both felt that the line should be very deep all the time, given the depth of it. The doctor asked me if I did an exercise for this area and of course I told him I did. They asked me a lot of questions about your program and I answered them to the best of my ability. I just thought you would like to know.

UPDATE               July 8, 1999

HEY DEB,

I AM SO THRILLED.  IT'S ONLY BEEN TWO WEEKS SINCE STARTING YOUR TAPE AND I'M STARTING TO SEE THE DIMPLE ON MY RIGHT CHEEK COME BACK.  I'VE ALWAYS HAD A DIMPLE ON MY RIGHT CHEEK WHENEVER I SMILED AND I ALWAYS RECEIVED COMPLEMENTS ON IT AND LOVED IT. IN THE LAST FEW YEARS (I'M ALMOST 40 YRS OLD) I NOTICED THAT THE DIMPLE WAS JUST BECOMING  A FOLD IN MY CHEEK, THAT RAN DOWN TO MY JAW BONE. BUT NOW THAT MY CHEEKS ARE MORE PLUMP, THE FOLD IS STARTING TO FILL IN, AS A RESULT THE DIMPLE IS MORE PRONOUNCED, IT MAKES ME FEEL YOUNG.   THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

I WAS DREADING MY 40TH BIRTHDAY, BUT NOW I FEEL I HAVE SOME CONTROL OVER THE AGING OF MY FACE.  I GUESS THESE EXERCISES REALLY DO WORK!!!!!!

SINCERELY, LINDA

Hi Linda

Both my mother and sister have dimples which was something I always envied while growing up.  As a little girl I was very thin and  believed that was why I didn't have them.  Well, now I too have them (on occasion).    As it turned out, all I had to do was build my face and TA DA!  Ironically, the only way my dimples show is when I lose weight.   In bodybuilding this is know as definition or cuts. Thanks for the great post.

Hello!
I really appreciate your assistance.  I have been doing your exercises for about a month or so. For this entire time, I have been experimenting and getting used to using my facial muscles.  I have noticed that many of my muscles are weak due to atrophy.  I also looked in my roommate's anatomy book (he's an exercise sports major at my college), and I have attempted to locate the facial muscles that I need to exercise the most.  I have found that your program is very comprehensive. However, I also discovered that a variety of facial muscles must be exercised to bring about noticeable results.  I have noticed that there is a slight improvement in my appearance after using your program.  This is outstanding and encouraging because finally there is something that works!  However, I realize that it will take additional time before the positive results from your exercises take full fruition.   Weight lifting requires proper form in order to work the muscles properly. This is also the case for facial muscles.  I also realize that it takes much discipline to continue to train regularly.  I think this is because I try to tax my muscles to near failure.  I wonder if this approach is okay to perform everyday?  If I work to positive muscle failure will I need to take an off day in between a workout?  I find that on some days I really do not want to work my muscles because they actually feel sore. I thank you for being a pioneer in facial exercises. I also want to compliment you on your own face. I am currently 23 years old. If I can look half as good as you do, I'll be a very happy person.

Sincerely,
Suk Kim

Hi Suk Kim
Unlike resistance training for the rest of the body, the only time you may want to give yourself a rest  would be if you’re just to sore to train (acid build-up).   You use a fixed amount of weight when resistance training the body. When applying resistance to your face, you are constantly adjusting the amount of resistance.  So, when the muscle needs the rest, (without even knowing it) you’re pretty much just going through the motion. This prevents over-training.   Good question, thanks

Inspiration...don't give up     June 24, 1999

Hi Debmeister:

I just got such a great compliment today thanks to you my dear.  I was at my hairdresser, and one of the stylists who sees me once a month - pipes up and says, " Ok Olympia, what's goin' on girl, did you find the fountain of youth or something - what is it - we all want to know?"  Then the rest of them started in, so I told them about FlexEffect.  Initially puzzlement and then complete interest, tell me more.

But here's the deal, I've seen the subtle differences everyday, the changes in my face, since I began this program. I'm very religious about executing the exercises properly and everyday without fail (if I can help it). But what is truly wonderful and a testament to the fact that this facial resistance training program REALLY WORKS, is when people outside yourself, who really don't have anything to gain other than how can they themselves can benefit from your secret fountain of youth, it's like....shall we say - way cool!

So for anyone who has doubts, or who might not be giving the program enough time to see results, or you've been lax in doing the program everyday, please please please, stick with it, it works.  Period - end of story.  I hope this inspires others, heck, it inspired me to just stick to it!  Thanks again Deb.

Thank you      June 9,1999

Hi Deb

How long have you  had this message board?  Is there something else you should be telling me?????  Sooooooooo Cool. I wanted to tell you I was complimented yesterday about my skin. I didn't say this but the real change is my mouth. It's been 3 months and must admit I've spent more time on my mouth than anything else. I'm going broke on lipsticks lip liners and gloss.  I love it, I love it, I love it.  Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Val

Hi Val

You're welcome! But remember 'PREVENTION'.  Even though you may be satisfied with the rest of your face, train as though you're not  and thank you!

WOW      April 30, 1999

Ok There is no doubt in my mind that this works. I have been doing the flexeffect facial exercises for more than a year. No not everyday and sometimes I may miss a week. But the nice thing is that when I start back it shows immediately. I am 50 and get complements on how young I look. I recommend this program 100%.

Vicky

Hello      April 28, 1999

Hi Deb,

Just wanted to let you know that I love the additions to your site. I'm going on 28 and started your program about 6 months ago. I was just starting to develop small lines around my eyes... They are gone!!! I highly recommend this to the younger people that think they don't have to worry. Thanks to your help... I'm still getting carded!!!

Claudia

Hi Claudia

I started training at just about your age.  You're way ahead of the game! Here's a tip: I'm sure at this date you're not concerned with your neck. Most people at your age aren't, but trust me, in time you will be.   Give your neck EVERY BIT AS MUCH ATTENTION as your face. That is the one area that just sneaks up on  you, so  DON'T LET IT HAPPEN.  Thanks for your response and keep me posted with your training, If at anytime you need my help just get back to me.  Take Care
